Introduction To the Virtual Laundromat
by Garry Cooper, LCSW

Like most professions, psychotherapists like to keep their dirty laundry hidden from the public and even from themselves. But is that good for the public or ourselves?

Psychjourney is proud to introduce a new feature, the Virtual Laundromat, vigorous debates between therapists, rinsed of professional and academic jargon, about some of the controversial, but seldom talked about, issues in mental health and psychotherapy.

Every other week, watch therapists air dirty laundry about the field, hosted by our resident Psychjourney domain leaders, Garry Cooper and John Riolo, and featuring invited guests. If you have a topic or want to step up on one of our virtual Laundromat soapboxes, just drop us an email  at virtuallaundromat@psychjourney.com

The Rules:

Deborah Harper, the president of Psychjourney will introduce a topic.  Each debater will respond with an essay that includes their position on the issue. We encourage informal everyday language and vigorous back and forth; after all, who dresses up to go to the Laundromat? Each debater also has the option of a short rebuttal to the other. Some issues may be debated in audio format and recorded.

The Psychjourney audience may jump in and submit their comments as well.
